Welcome to the pages for Wendover Community Library.
The Wendover Community Library Trust is a Registered Charity, No. 1157773.
This means that the committee members are legally obliged as Trustees to run the organisation in accordance with our charitable objects, which gives reassurance to donors and those dealing with us. It has financial benefits in that annual membership payments through our Friends membership subscriptions (see our FOWL page) may now be treated as gift aid donations, so the taxman gives us another quarter as a tax rebate. It is a waste not to give him the opportunity to contribute in this way to help us enhance our library facilities!
Our library is in the heart of the town. The library car park is pay and display (free for the first hour) and is accessed off the High Street.
On December 1st 2012 we became one of the libraries within Buckinghamshire to move to community library status, where we have professional library staff assisted by trained local volunteers.
It is hoped that volunteers will gradually play a greater role in the running of the Library enabling this important village facility to promote a wider range of cultural and community activities. In this way it might be possible to increase the opening hours for the Library and for it to be recognised as a hub for local activities.
These range from support work in the library itself, to help with children’s activities, help with our Tea and Talk on Thursdays (see 'What's On' page for dates ) - an informal meeting once a month with a short talk or activity, followed by tea and biscuits; fundraising events, publicity, opportunities for interested people in the community to be involved!
If you are interested in being involved, do go and see Susan Morton or Mel Greasby in the library for more information.
If you would like to contribute to the running of the library please consider volunteering.
