Volunteering

Why is there a need for Volunteers?

Flackwell Heath Community Library is run solely by volunteers and that means local people like you giving a few hours of their time to this village project.
Without volunteers coming forward, Flackwell Heath could lose its Library altogether.

How much of my time will it take?

This is entirely up to you.  It can be anything from working for a few hours each month with others in the library to the occasional help with specific projects.  Activities can include:

issuing books to borrowers, as well as sorting and tidying the library itself.

  • Providing assistance with the manning of exhibition stands, for example such as the Village Picnic in July
  • Delivering publicity leaflets - whilst walking your dog maybe?
  • Supporting other indigenous library groups such as the newly formed Local History Group.
The fact is there are a multitude of tasks to be covered, and many hands will make the work lighter.

What skills do I need?

The most useful one will be common sense.  All volunteers will get full training for any task they take on and no one need fear being left without help or assistance in any situation
.
Why should I volunteer?

There is a huge “feel good” factor to volunteering.  You will meet and work with local people, many of whom you may already know but will also enjoy the company of other villagers.

How do I volunteer?

Just send a short e-mail to us, giving your name, address,  phone no and e-mail address, and we will e-mail you a short application form, on which you can let us know what you would like to do to help us.
Please feel free in the first instance to call into the Library and ask us any questions you may have.

You will be welcomed with open arms.
